Mission
The mission of the Management Information Unit (MIU) in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor is to
- support Macquarie University (the University Council, Executive, divisions and departments) to make more informed decisions to support the University's business processes through the effective development, collection, analysis, storage, access, use, audit and disposal of information, and
- meet information requirements of statutory bodies and stakeholders such as the Commonwealth Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR), and the internal and external auditors.
This involves the management of quality, accessibility and standard of information through all stages of the information planning and operational lifecycle.
Strategies
The mission will be achieved by
- participating in the development of information management strategies and standards,
- identifying the information needs of the University and relevant Government agencies,
- facilitating access to, use and dissemination of information,
- managing data quality,
- providing reporting and analysis services,
- developing information skills, and
- developing education profiles, performance indicators and models.
