The Survey
The AUSSE is a new quality enhancement activity managed by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) for Australasian higher education institutions. It was first conducted in Macquarie University in 2007.
Student engagement is an idea specifically focused on students in higher education and their interactions with their institution. The idea touches on aspects of teaching, the broader student experience, learner' lives beyond university, and institutional support. It provides key insights into what students are actually doing, a structure for framing conversations about quality, and a stimulus for guiding new thinking about best practice.
The AUSSE constitutes of two surveys - survey of undergraduate student engagement through 'Student Engagement Questionnaire (SEQ)' and survey on the academics' expectations for student engagement in educational practices through 'Staff Survey of Student Engagement (SSES)'.
The survey was administered in July and August 2008.
All responses are private and confidential . ACER has randomly selected students and staff from de-identified lists that do not have any private or personal information.
Participation in the AUSSE is highly valued. ACER will protect the confidentiality of your response to the fullest possible extent within the limits of the law. The AUSSE is run according to the ACER Code of Ethics.
